The annual Ishinryu Open Summer Course remains a unique event in the UK karate calender.  Running each year since 1976, the Summer Course features top instructors, led by Ishinryu head Ticky Donovan O.B.E. (9th Dan).  Great weather, great enthusiasm and a willingness by all attendees to give 100% made 2010 another great year. These pages provide a pictorial overview of the week.

This year Sensei Ticky Donovan O.B.E (9th Dan) was joined by top instructors Dave Hazard, Eddie Gillespie, Lee Smith, and Jonathan Mottram plus guest instructors Bruce Hyland and Richard Condon.  Additional intruction was provided by Gavin Foster, Tony Spinks and Tony Dean.

Training started 7:30 sharp on Sunday morning on the green with everyone in track gear.

Another sessions followed at midday in Gi's. The last (4pm) session of the day was cancelled by popular vote in order to see the England verses Germany World Cup match. Maybe training would have been a better option after all...

Day Two - Monday

Another 7:30 start got those aching limbs working again. For those fighting later in the day, a chance to sharpen up.

The Senior's fighting competition was held from 11.00 am. Categories including Men's and Ladies Kumite plus and Kumite for under 21's. Click here for all Summer Course competition results.
